Vistry secures outline consent for 375 Basildon homes

Vistry has secured outline planning permission for 375 mixed-tenure homes in Basildon, Essex.

Basildon Borough Council has also approved the construction of an early years nursery on the site, with 50% of the homes to be designated affordable.

The 20-hectare development will include extensive green infrastructure with a third of the space to be publicly accessible space.

Land to the north of the site is subject to a separate planning application for up to 146 homes, which previously was resolved to be approved by the council, subject to completion of a legal agreement.

The next stage will see completion of a Section 106 agreement and submission of reserved matters application covering layout, scale, appearance and landscaping.

“This resolution allows us to bring forward a well?planned and sustainable new community to Basildon that will deliver much?needed new homes, including affordable housing, alongside important infrastructure and significant green space,” said James Harkin, Head of Vistry Strategic Land.

“We look forward to progressing the next stages of the scheme through the reserved matters process.”
